| May my precious uncle Lee rest in peace.
Huvel Payne Jr. - JONESBOROUGH
Huvel “Lee” Payne Jr., age 30, of Jonesborough, TN, went to be with the Lord on July 27, 2006, at his residence with his loving wife and his 3 year old son, “Little Lee,” at his bedside.
He was a loving husband, his wife Laura’s best friend and soul mate. He had a love and devotion to his son and wife that words can’t express. He had a beautiful quiet spirit that everyone loved and appreciated.
He was a beloved son, who brought much pride and joy to his mother, Carolyn Herrell, and his father, Huvel “Red” Payne Sr. He also was a best friend to his brothers, Michael and wife, April Payne, and B.J. and wife, Jamie Payne; his sisters, Angel and husband, Adam Wilson, and Karen and husband, Nang Nagyun, and his paternal grandmother, Lula Ellen Payne, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and cousins. Lee was a wonderful son in law to Walt and Janet Rodifer.
He will always be remembered for his love for the outdoors and deer hunting which he always included his son “Lee Bird.” He attended Cherry Grove Baptist Church. He attended ETSU pursuing a degree in biology and also attended Elizabethton Technical School pursuing an ASE certified mechanic degree. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he was a squad leader and an Airman apprentice.
A special thanks to Martin Herrell, who held a special place in Lee’s life. A honorable mention to his buddies, Chris Snipes, Gary Mitchell, Charlie Smith, Greg Carver, Doug Barnett, George Woodfin, Adam Wilson and Walt Rodifer II. We will always be thankful for the time that we shared with him in our family. Our memories and love will always be kept alive through watching Lee Bird grow into a fine young man just like his daddy. The family would like to express special gratitude to Tyler Foster for his final efforts of CPR.
Funeral services for Huvel “Lee” Payne will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Sunday, July 30, 2006, at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tim Carver officiating. Interment will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 31, 2006, at Washington County Memory Gardens.
